"Women are colors and light" in the Dubai Design District

Yesterday, the activities of the art exhibition “Women, Colors and Dia” launched, which is hosted by “K Gallery” in the Dubai Design District and affiliated to the wife of His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser, Her Highness Sheikha Khawla bint Ahmed Khalifa Al Suwaidi, President of “Khawla for Art and Culture” in cooperation with The Emirates Fine Arts Association, with the participation of 16 Emirati and Arab artists, embodied in their works women in their manifestations and their prominent presence in all fields and levels. The exhibition continues until the 18th of this month.
A pivotal role
Her Highness Sheikha Khawla bint Ahmed Khalifa Al Suwaidi confirmed that the organization of the exhibition coincides with the International Women's Day with the aim of introducing the pivotal role that women have played throughout history until today and their positive contributions and the bids and achievements they have made in all fields of life, noting the importance of the exhibition in emphasizing the prominent presence of Emirati women In the cultural creative scene, thanks to the vision of the wise leadership, which placed it at the forefront of the cultural scene, and paved for it an incubating environment for creative talents in all fields, which strengthened the empowerment of Emirati women in the local cultural and intellectual movement, as well as their influential presence in international cultural cooperation. Emirati cultural leaders are illustrious names of Emirati women who have bright spots in the record of Emirati culture, have won international awards and left an exceptional imprint full of successes and achievements.
Her Highness Sheikha Khawla bint Ahmed Khalifa Al Suwaidi indicated that the exhibition, which came under the title “Women, Colors and Light”, its goals and cultural message centered not only on highlighting and supporting talents and creative and artistic energies in the UAE, but also on highlighting the symbolism of women in art, as they are the source of love and peace. It is a symbol of giving and goodness, and its presence in art has always carried rich contexts and influential human connotations. She thanked all the artists participating in the exhibition for their distinguished works of art and their keenness to participate and attend all the events organized by the Khawla Foundation for Art and Culture and hosted by K Gallery.
Dr. Lamis Al-Qaisi, Director of the Khawla Foundation for Art and Culture, said: Hosting the “Women’s Colors and Light” exhibition coincides with the annual celebration of International Women’s Day, which was approved by the United Nations in 1977, and this year comes under the slogan of equality based on gender today for a sustainable tomorrow, to empower women. And girls to make their voices heard and their participation in decision-making and the consolidation of equality based on gender, stressing that the United Arab Emirates is one of the leading countries in the field of empowering women and giving them the status they deserve in society. Salem Al Junaibi, President of the Emirates Fine Arts Society, said: “The exhibition represents the first cooperation between the Society and K Gallery, and on the occasion of International Women’s Day, we wanted this cooperation to come with an institution run by a woman, and we thus extend our thanks to Sheikha Khawla Bint Ahmed Khalifa Al Suwaidi, who founded Khawla for Art and Culture.” Pointing out that the exhibition embodies the role of women in society through their holding the highest positions.
