Khawla Art Gallery hosts "Women's Colors and Diaa" exhibition in Dubai Design District

DUBAI, 9th March, 2020 (WAM) -- The activities of the art exhibition "Women, Colors and Dia'" were launched yesterday evening, hosted by "K Gallery" in the Dubai Design District. Khawla for Art and Culture ", in cooperation with the Emirates Fine Arts Association, with the participation of 16 Emirati and Arab artists who embodied in their works women's manifestations and prominent presence in all fields and levels. The exhibition continues until March 18th.


Her Highness Sheikha Khawla bint Ahmed Khalifa Al Suwaidi confirmed that the organization of the exhibition coincides with the International Women's Day, with the aim of introducing the pivotal role that women have played throughout history until today, their positive contributions, and the bids and achievements they have made in all fields of life, noting the importance of the exhibition in emphasizing the prominent presence of Emirati women. In the cultural creative scene, thanks to the vision of the wise leadership, which placed it at the forefront of the cultural scene and paved for it an incubating environment for creative talents in all fields, which enhanced the empowerment of Emirati women in the local cultural and intellectual movement, as well as their influential presence in international cultural cooperation. Brilliant Emirati women leaders who have bright spots in the record of Emirati culture, won international awards and left an exceptional imprint full of successes and achievements.


Her Highness Sheikha Khawla bint Ahmed Khalifa Al Suwaidi indicated that the exhibition, which came under the title "Women, Colors and Light", its goals and cultural message revolve not only in highlighting and supporting the creative and artistic talents and energies in the UAE, but also in highlighting the symbolism of women in art, as they are the source of love and peace. It is a symbol of giving and benevolence, and its presence in art has always carried rich contexts and influential human connotations. She thanked all the artists participating in the exhibition for their distinguished works of art and their eagerness to participate and attend all the events organized by the Khawla Foundation for Art and Culture and hosted by "K Gallery".


Dr. Lamees Al-Qaisi, Director of the Khawla Foundation for Art and Culture, said in an exclusive statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that hosting the "Women's Colors and Dya" exhibition coincides with the annual celebration of International Women's Day, which was approved by the United Nations in 1977, and this year comes under the slogan of equality based on principles. Salem Al Junaibi, President of the Emirates Fine Arts Society, told WAM that the exhibition represents the first cooperation between the Society and K Gallery, and on the occasion of International Women's Day, we wanted this cooperation to come with an institution run by a woman, and we thus extend our thanks to Her Highness Sheikha Khawla bint Ahmed Khalifa Al Suwaidi. Who founded "Khawla for Art and Culture", pointing out that the exhibition embodies the role of women in society through their holding the highest positions, thus achieving qualitative achievements at various levels.


He explained that the association’s upcoming projects are represented in participating in the month of reading through the “Artworks Reading Sessions” program, where the artist reads about his artworks. Shatha Al Mulla, Director of the Arts Department at the Ministry of Culture and Youth, thanked the Emirates Fine Arts Society for its continuous support to Emirati and Arab artists and its organization of specialized exhibitions, especially for the youth category. The Emirati plastic artist, Najat Makki, indicated that she participated in 3 artworks in the exhibition, which embodied women and their presence in societies and various cultures around the world, as well as their aspirations and successes, explaining that the artworks are an expression of the self and the symbolism that the artist wants to show in his artwork. In today's exhibition, each artist dealt with the woman from a specific aspect according to his visual vision.


The Iraqi artist Mutasim Al-Qubaisi said that his participation in the exhibition came with the display of 5 works of art made of bronze "sculptures" that embody the aesthetics of women in all their conditions, especially the case of "obese", stressing that the exhibited sculptures were admired by visitors to the exhibition.
