Khawla Arts and Culture and Dubai Design District celebrate creativity in Middle Eastern art

Yesterday, the work of the art exhibition “Celebrating Middle Eastern Creativity” organized by the Khawla Foundation for Art and Culture and the Dubai Design District began in cooperation between the two sides, with the participation of 6 artists from the UAE and Arab countries, and it will continue until March 13. The exhibition aims to empower and inspire talents and promote artistic and cultural development in the community in order to embody a cultural beacon in the art scene firmly rooted in a region with a global reach. The organization of the exhibition coincides with the month of March, which is the month of arts in Dubai, and with the launch of “Art Dubai”. Dr. Lamis Al-Qaisi, Director of the Khawla Foundation for Art and Culture, told Emirates News Agency, WAM, that in this exhibition, the Foundation seeks to communicate more with Middle Eastern artists who use different styles of arts, materials, and colors, reflecting the mother culture of each artist, as well as providing storytelling. Artists ranging from textiles, paintings, jewelry, artwork executed on wood and steel to modern and contemporary calligraphy. Through this mixture and artistic diversity, one gets the opportunity to learn about the different colors and shades of the Middle East as well as the distinctive culture of the Middle East.
For its part, the Dubai Design District team said: “Our vision is embodied in creating an interactive system that includes distinguished designers that nurtures emerging creators and provides a platform for startups and students to rethink outside the box. The platform displays creative talents at the regional and local levels in front of a global audience and supports bold and absolute innovation that challenges Standards even sponsor the most unusual ideas and turn them into reality.” Noting that despite the pandemic that affected the world last year, “Dubai Design District” succeeded in maintaining the continuity of cultural celebrations and launched several events related to design, fashion, architecture, and contemporary art.
Among the most prominent participants in the exhibition was the artist Ali Basendida, who worked on creating new forms in calligraphy using the colors black and red in his works. The artist Areen, her collection of gowns and carpets that depict the characteristics of the Islamic garden, based in her artwork on techniques and multimedia to experiment with transparency and reflect the function of traditional materials, and reflect the artwork of the artist Ibrahim Hamid entitled “Ishtar” faces in geometric shapes that carry human anxiety, joy, spirit, and all the transformations that occur to him and appear Middle Eastern beauty.
The series of works by the Emirati artist Jamal Habroush Al Suwaidi carried feelings of love in many forms - its strength, beauty and fragility. In each work, he explores the theme of love from a different perspective, using a variety of colors, geometric shapes, and flowing shapes to tell his story. Poems and prose works of classical and contemporary Arab poets and writers written in the geometric square Kufic script. The aim is to focus on highlighting the “pioneering” influence of this spiritual line and revealing the special dialogue between love and Arabic calligraphy.
The artist, Nateq Al-Alousi, presents 4 dialogues in the exhibition. With each painting and sculpture, his creations are revealed, revealing a sensory dialogue that expresses himself. His works show us two completely different materials, where strength and hardness differ in comparison to fragility and emotion. Each of these two works tells a beautiful story, where Nateq Al-Alusi gives free rein to the viewer to travel with his dreams through his works, allowing him to write his own story. His works express a unique connection to each viewer, which creates a strong third voice between the works and the viewers. Wham
