The participants will first explore and have the chance to experiment symbols and motifs from the UAE architecture, They will make different exercises, using different techniques to create their own patterns and shapes that would be base for their textile. Then they will be able to transfer their patterns to textile using the silkscreen printing.
Workshop plan
21 of June:
Introduction about the print design process and techniques, (showing samples), a presentation about the UAW elements and a presentation about design layout types and development and how to create a design from symbol to a final design. Also the participants will experiment the print techniques and methods.
22 of June:
The participants will make their own patterns and experiment symbols and motifs, using different techniques, such as: painting, drawing, cutting, collage, silkscreen printing and more.
23 of June:
The participants will transfer their ideas and patterns to fabrics, using different techniques such as :embroidery, silkscreen printings, collage design with fabric, hand stitching and more.
