AlMoravid Kufic Script:

Khawla Art Gallery, Dubai Design District 17 - 24 July 2023
Khawla Art Gallery, Dubai Design District 05:30pm-7:30pm
Islamic arts were not abstract arts that were not subject to learning and training, but mixed with distance education since its inception. This is because Islamic arts accompanied people in their daily lives. This explains the educational dimension of those arts. Calligraphy remains the most prominent of those arts, where the calligrapher is aware of the importance of transferring that technical expertise from the generation of pioneers to successive generations.  The Moroccan Kufic calligraphy, in its forms and styles, is a rich material for creativity and enjoyment. The Moroccans used Kufic script from an early age, so they created many varieties of it in very accurate paintings like mastery on the walls and archaeological walls. It contributed to the formation of the artistic taste of the community.

This workshop aims to provide technical training for those interested in Kufic script in general and Kufic script Almorabti in particular through the use of an educational style capable of entertaining the trainee and motivate him to acquire writing skills, supported by designed linear patterns and pieces specifically for this workshop. It aims to benefit  them in building works of art that highlight the aesthetic and expressive aspects of Almoravid Kufic script according to the principles of design, which are - unity - balance - compatibility   and opposition.
